How can someone convert to Islam?

Muslims follow the religion of Islam.

Becoming a Muslim has no prerequisites other than one’s commitment to act upon the teachings of Islam.

Islam literally means “peace” and “submission”. Therefore, Muslims are those who endeavor to establish peace in their lives by submitting to the will of God.

Becoming a Muslim is an easy process.

Firstly, one must recite what is called the ‘Shahada’. This is the first and the most important of the five pillars of Islam. The Shahada is a declaration that forms the basis of all action for a Muslim.

This is followed by a bath signifying a new start. The Shahada is in Arabic and translates into “I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His messenger.”

Islam is a religion that recognises that there is a foundational truth in all religions.

Above all, the teachings of Islam represent the peak of religious evolution.

It repeatedly invites people from all backgrounds and cultures to judge it by its all-encompassing teachings and set out on a spiritual journey under Divine guidance.

So, you can become a Muslim regardless of whether you are a Hindu, Christian, Jew, or belong to any other faith or no faith at all.

A number of Religious Ministers are affiliated with Muslims Down Under. They can help you become a Muslim in Australia. Similarly, they can help you understand Islam and the beliefs of a Muslim. They can also help you in taking the “Shahada” followed by a formal prayer.
